Municipal Referendum Petition Review
A municipal referendum petition was submitted on August 7, 2026. The petition seeks to overturn a recent annexation ordinance involving a parcel of just under 3,460 acres owned by Microsoft, located in the southeastern part of the community.
During the week of August 10th, City Clerk staff focused on tallying the submitted signatures and conducting an initial legal sufficiency review of the petition.
During the week of August 17th, staff began the detailed review and verification of petition signatures. As of August 21st, staff have spent approximately 12 hours reviewing and verifying signatures and have reviewed 25 petition pages (375 signatures), representing approximately 11% of the total petition pages.
The review and verification process is ongoing. Additional updates will be provided as the review progresses.
