Richard Johnson was originally elected in 2014 and served Ward 3 from 2015-2019. Due to employment situations, he did not seek reelection in 2018. In 2020, at the behest of the community, Mr. Johnson sought office again. During his absence from the dais, Mr. Johnson was a part time editorialist and was elected to the Board of Directors for Arts Cheyenne. Currently Mr. Johnson serves as the City Council President (2023) and is the Council's representative for the Cheyenne Animal Shelter and the Historic Preservation Board. Mr. Johnson in an active volunteer for Rooted in Cheyenne.
Mr. Johnson is an advocate for Cheyenne's skateboarding, music, non-profit, and artistic communities. He is most known for his fundraising endeavors in completion of the Cheyenne skatepark and Downtown Splash Pad.
