Yard Waste Program resumes April 6, 2026

The Sanitation Division Yard Waste Program will resume collection the week of Monday, April 6, 2026.

Residents who have opted in to yard waste service and are unaware of their yard waste pickup day or have questions about the program should contact the Sanitation Division at 307-637-6440, option 0, or download the Recycle Coach app.

The Yard Waste Program will continue through mid-November.

Reminders:

  • Yard waste containers must be on the street by 6 a.m.
  • There is no alley pickup for this program.
  • ONLY lawn trimmings, weeds, leaves, pine needles, and pinecones should be placed in yard waste containers.
  • Items shall be placed loosely in the container.
  • Yard waste is not allowed in residential trash or recycle containers.

Items NOT allowed in yard waste containers:

  • Branches (Can be taken to the Compost Facility)
  • Tumbleweeds (Can be taken to the Compost Facility)
  • Pet waste
  • Bags (including paper yard bags. Bagged compost can be emptied at the Compost Facility.)
  • Sod (Can be taken to the Compost Facility)
  • Mulch (Can be taken to the City Landfill)
  • Rocks (Can be taken to the City Landfill)
  • Trash (Can be taken to the City Transfer Station or Landfill)

Branch Pick Up Information:

  • Offered the third Thursday of each month during the Yard Waste Program season.
  • Cut branches down to 3 feet in length.
  • Leave branches unbundled.
  • Branches should be on the street curb no earlier than 4 p.m. the day before pick-up.
  • The branch pick-up program is free for anyone enrolled in the yard waste program up to the first cubic yard. Anyone who is not enrolled in our Yard Waste Program will be charged a fee per cubic yard.

The Compost Facility (3714 Windmill Road) is available for disposal of residential yard waste year-round from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Large loads from contractors are not accepted after 4:30 p.m.

Starting May 3, 2026, through Sept. 27, 2026, the Compost Facility will open Sundays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for drop off only (no loading or sales).
