The City of Cheyenne will begin a project to make major improvements on Van Buren Avenue and a section of Dell Range Boulevard next week, weather permitting.

Road closures will be in place during construction and detours will be in place. Drivers are urged to use caution in the work zone.

Beginning Monday, April 8, Van Buren will close at its intersection with Dell Range and will remain closed for about two weeks. The Wyoming Department of Transportation will have the Van Buren/U.S. 30 intersection reopened for this phase of construction.

Following that work, the Van Buren/Dell Range intersection will reopen and Dell Range will close between Van Buren and Whitney Road. Work will continue for several months, and access to residences will be maintained.

The final phase of the project will close Van Buren in sections to install new storm sewer infrastructure.

The entire project will result in major upgrades for the area, including widening Dell Range Boulevard, resurfacing Van Buren Avenue, and greatly improving stormwater drainage in the area.

The City is coordinating with the Wyoming Department of Transportation and its U.S. 30 project. Both projects are using the same contractors, further improving coordination.
