Crews from the City of Cheyenne’s Urban Forestry Division were called out to over 50 locations on Thursday to remove fallen trees that were blocking streets throughout Cheyenne. Urban Forestry will continue to clear debris and make streets passable through the weekend.

Motorists should stay clear of crews working in the right-of-way and abide by any street closures.

Dozens of trees have also blown over in several City parks, cemeteries, golf courses and other City properties, and cleanup work will continue into early next week. Forestry staff will continue to evaluate all City properties over the next several days to gauge tree damage and identify any hazardous conditions.

Residents should stay clear of all trees that have blown over or are partially blown over, refrain from walking under large trees, and abide by any closures in parks that are set up to protect public safety.

Residents with tree damage or tree failures on their own properties should call a licensed tree maintenance company to assist with clean-up and/or evaluate weakened trees. A list of City licensed tree maintenance businesses can be found at http://www.cheyennetrees.com/.

The high wind event on Thursday, March 12, 2026, saw sustained high winds with gusts reaching more than 90 mph in Cheyenne. Additional high winds, though less severe, are expected through Saturday.
