Ribbon cutting for U.S. 30 Greenway underpass set for Oct. 29, 2024
Published on October 21, 2024
The City of Cheyenne will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new U.S. 30 Greenway underpass on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 2 p.m.
The event will take place near the new underpass just north of U.S. 30. Parking is available on-site near the intersection of the U.S. 30 Service Road and Parsons Place.
The recently completed project is located under the newly reconstructed U.S. 30 east of Polk Avenue and west of Van Buren Avenue. The new underpass provides a safe, grade separated crossing for bicyclists and pedestrians under a very busy and higher-speed state highway. It replaces an underpass in the same general location that has had significant flooding issues over the years as it was originally built in the creek bottom.
The U.S. 30 Underpass was funded with 2021 voter approved 6th Penny sales tax and Wyoming Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration grants.

Since voter approval on the 6th Penny sales tax ballot in 1991, the Greater Cheyenne Greenway has grown to encompass over 47 miles of safe, separated, bicycle and pedestrian paths in the Capital City. The 10-foot-wide concrete paths provide connectivity throughout Cheyenne for recreation, transportation, and relaxation. The Greenway snakes along Crow and Dry creeks, parks, schools, neighborhoods, and commercial centers. The system extends from Four Mile Road at the Pointe subdivision to the north to the Sweetgrass subdivision to the south, Interstate 25 to the west, and Christensen Road to the east.
