Community Recreation & Events Announce Reopening Plans for Facilities

Mini Golf at Ice and Events Center

CHEYENNE – The City’s Community Recreation & Events (CRE) Department has announced reopening plans and safety procedures for various CRE divisions and facilities following statewide health orders and CDC recommendations. Additional information can be found below. The City of Cheyenne and CRE appreciate the public’s continued support of these facilities and abiding by safety measures currently in place.

AQUATICS (931 Martin Esquibel St.)

Open Tuesday and Thursday through July 1st -- Main/Rec Pool (Lap and Fitness Swim Only. No Rec Swim)

18 years of age and older only. No children will be permitted under any circumstances.

  • 8:00-10:00am – 10 max patrons on Main at one time, 7 max patrons on Rec at one time
  • 11:00am-1:00pm - 10 max patrons on Main at one time, 7 max patrons on Rec at one time
  • 2:00-4:00pm - 10 max patrons on Main at one time, 7 max patrons on Rec at one time

There will be one-hour in between swim blocks to allow for people to clear out of the facility, sanitation, and breaks for staff members. Aquatics is currently accepting pool lane reservations through their website, www.cheyennerec.org

Patrons will be permitted to use cabanas and locker rooms. Showers will not be available for use. The cabanas will be disinfected after each open block of time. We encourage patrons to sanitize the common touched surfaces (door handles, faucet handles, toilet flush lever, countertop, and toilet seat) after their individual use. Sanitation wipes will be provided.

Patrons will be encouraged to come ready to swim and wear clothes over swim attire when leaving. This will assist in the social distancing of patrons and any potential spread of pathogens.

Showers will be made available upon staffing restrictions being lifted and in accordance with local health codes and as social distancing requirements allow.

SPRAY PARK (931 Martin Esquibel St.)

Tentatively opening June 1st, weather permitting

A max of 25 people at one time. Time blocks will be as follows:

  • Monday/Wednesday/Friday
  • 10:00am-12:00pm & 1:00-3:00pm

The Spray Park will be accessed separately using the Spray Park gates to the South of the Facility. Payment will only be accepted in the form of punch cards. The Spray Park bathrooms will be available for use during the open times. The bathrooms will be disinfected after each open block of time. We encourage patrons to sanitize the common touched surfaces (door handles, faucet handles, toilet flush lever, countertop, and toilet seat) after their individual use. Sanitation wipes will be provided.

BOTANIC GARDENS (710 South Lions Park Dr.)

Opening June 2nd

The Grand Conservatory and Paul Smith Children’s Village will be open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Closed Sundays and Mondays. Entrance for visitors to both areas will only be through the Grand Conservatory building. To accommodate other visitors, please limit your visit to one hour.

At the Grand Conservatory, only the first floor will be open to the public, and restrooms will be available on that floor. There are no drinking fountains available, but water and other beverages are available in the vending machine.

At the Paul Smith Children’s Village, the classroom will be closed. Wading in the water and public toys will not be available.

The gift shop will reopen in July, and public programs will reconvene in the fall. Although we don’t allow food in the buildings currently, please feel free to have picnic lunches on the grounds. We encourage the public to enjoy the grounds this summer, but please pick up all trash and wipe down tables when you leave.

KIWANIS COMMUNITY HOUSE OFFICES (4603 Lions Park Dr.)

Opening May 26th

Offices will be open for registrations and rental reservations, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

ICE & EVENTS MINIATURE GOLF (1530 W. Lincolnway)

Opening May 23rd

The miniature golf course, located outside the Ice & Events Center, will reopen May 23rd from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Mini golf will remain open May 25th for Memorial Day from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

The initial weekly schedule after Memorial Day will be as follows:

  • Monday: Closed
  • Tuesday: Closed
  • Wednesday 10am-7pm
  • Thursday 10am-7pm
  • Friday 10am-8pm
  • Saturday 10am -8pm
  • Sunday 10am- 7pm

Any adjustments to the schedule will be posted at www.cheyenneiceandevents.com/

We will require guests to make tee times/reservations in advance by calling 433-0024.  Tee times will be made in 15-minute increments. Groups will be limited to six or less. If your group has more than six, you will be required to split into two groups, but may utilize one tee time. Call for complete details or check the website.
