Municipal Building to close for several weeks; City services available
Published on October 03, 2025
The Cheyenne Municipal Building will remain closed for the next 30 days, and City services remain open and available for the public.
The Municipal Building closed last week following reports of carbon monoxide in the interior of the building. The City is currently investigating the issue and is conducting air monitoring throughout the Municipal Building, which is expected to take a few weeks while data is collected.
The closure is out of an abundance of caution to protect City staff and the public from carbon monoxide exposure.
“While it can be frustrating to have the Municipal Building closed, the safety of City staff and visitors is paramount,” Mayor Patrick Collins said. “Our staff is working hard to continue to provide services from other locations and we appreciate our residents’ and business community’s patience as we move through this situation.”
While the Municipal Building is closed, staff and offices typically in the building have moved to other City facilities and/or are working remotely. All City services remain available to the public and the main City phone line remains open at 307-637-6200. City staff and departments are also available by phone and e-mail at their regular numbers.
Offices that offer in-person services and their locations are listed at the top of the City’s website at www.cheyennecity.org.
City services that are not typically located in the Municipal Building are not affected by the closure.
Additionally, City Council will continue to offer in-person attendance at its committee meetings, work sessions, and full meetings of the Governing Body. All City Council meetings remain at their regular times but will be held in the Laramie County School District #1 Board Room at Storey Gym. Those who wish to attend Council meetings should enter the board room from the north side of the building. Meetings will continue to be streamed on Zoom but streaming to the City’s Facebook and YouTube may be interrupted.
