CHEYENNE (8/21/20) – Laramie County has received notification of its fourth community death due to COVID-19. The patient was a 73-year-old man from Cheyenne who had been hospitalized for several weeks.  While the patient had other health conditions which put him in a high-risk category, COVID-19 is what led to his hospitalization and eventual death.

Laramie County currently has had 534 positive and probable COVID-19 cases. 475 of those individuals have recovered and 55 are still active cases. To date an additional 1,207 contacts have been quarantined or isolated in the community. Laramie County has the third highest county number of active cases in the state, and the second highest total cases behind Fremont County.

“While the number of active cases may not appear significant, the large number of quarantined individuals illustrates the impact in the city and county. Once again, we highly encourage individuals to wear face coverings, maintain six feet distance, wash hands frequently, and contact your health care provider if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms,” stated Dr. Stan Hartman, Laramie County Health Officer.
