Construction will begin July 16 on the Kiwanis Park Trail and Wetlands Project, and visitors to Kiwanis Community Park should be aware of this work.

This project will include construction of water quality wetlands and gravel trails, installation of bird blinds, and educational signage within Kiwanis Community Park. This work will add to existing wetlands and open water on the site; provide gravel trails for the public to view nature and wildlife; and provide education on the many functions of wetlands and their effect on both water quality and wildlife habitat.

The project has been supported by and will be matched with funding from the following: Kiwanis Club of Cheyenne, Cheyenne High Plains Audubon Society, Women’s Civic League of Cheyenne, Laramie County Conservation District, and a cooperative agreement with the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality for a FY2024 Clean Water Act, Section 319, Non-Point Source Implementation Grant for $112,906.00 which will be reimbursed as the project moves forward. Additional funding will come from the 2017 6th Penny for Kiwanis Park Purchase and Improvements.

Park visitors are asked to keep their distance from construction activities and to keep dogs on leashes for everyone’s safety.

Project completion is expected by the end of December 2026.

Kiwanis Community Park is located at the southwest corner of Pershing Boulevard and Whitney Road.
