The Cheyenne Greenway during fall.

As summer becomes fall, the City of Cheyenne would like to thank current volunteers who have helped maintain the more than 46 miles of Greenway this year.

“Volunteers are the key to helping us make sure the Greenway is safe, clean, and enjoyable for all users,” said Jeanie Vetter, the City’s Parks and Greenway planner. “Cheyenne’s parks and Greenways serve as critical infrastructure for exercise, relaxation, stress management, and more and we’ve seen tremendous use of the Greenway system this year!”

The City is always accepting new volunteers, whether for a longer-term commitment like the Adopt-a-Spot program or just routine maintenance for a day or two. The Adopt-a-Spot program involves cleanup of a specific section of Greenway, once in the spring and again in the fall. More than 70 local groups already participate.

In addition, the Cheyenne Greenway Foundation is always looking for volunteers for the foundation’s board as well as for special events. The Foundation provides much-needed amenities along the Greenway such as Bike Fix-It Stations, benches, drinking fountains, trail counters, wayfinding signage and much more.
