The City of Cheyenne has received an unmodified (“clean”) audit opinion on its financial statements for Fiscal Year 2025, which is the highest level of assurance. This distinction reflects the City’s continued commitment to strong financial management, transparency, and accountability.

“We are pleased with the results of this audit, which demonstrate our ongoing commitment to using taxpayer funds responsibly,” said Mayor Patrick Collins. “Fiscal integrity is a top priority for our administration, and we want residents to be confident that their tax dollars are managed carefully and effectively.”

The independent audit results were presented during a City Council work session on Jan. 16. Stephanie Pickering, partner at MHP, LLP, delivered the report, noting that there were no findings in either the financial statements or the federal awards portion of the audit. She also confirmed that the auditors identified no deficiencies in internal controls. The City continues to qualify as a low-risk auditee, meaning it meets federal criteria for a strong compliance record, consistent unmodified opinions, and the absence of significant issues over the past two years. This designation allows for reduced audit testing of federal funds.

The clean audit opinion for Fiscal Year 2025 reaffirms the City of Cheyenne’s dedication to responsible fiscal management and good governance.
