The City of Cheyenne has received an unmodified (“clean”) audit opinion, which is the highest level of assurance, on its financial statements for fiscal year 2023.
“We are pleased with the results of this audit, which demonstrates our commitment to ensuring we spend our taxpayer funds in a fiscally responsible manner,” Mayor Patrick Collins said. “We take this seriously and want residents to know we are good stewards of all taxpayers’ dollars.”
The results of the independent audit were discussed at the Jan. 5, 2024, City Council work session.
Stephanie Pickering, partner at MHP, LLP, who presented the report, stated that there were no findings on either the financial statements or the federal awards portion of the audit. The City undergoes a single audit each year, which must be done for any non-federal entity that spends more than $750,000 in federal funding in one year. She also noted that no deficiencies in internal controls were found.
The City’s audit report can be found at www.cheyennecity.org/financialreports.
