As the school year begins, drivers will notice new traffic signals near several Cheyenne schools.
At Powderhouse Road and Carlson Street, the new full traffic signal has been activated. Drivers should use caution in the area and keep in mind that the new Coyote Ridge Elementary School will create new traffic patterns.
Work to install two new HAWK signals is also wrapping up at Pershing Boulevard and McCann Avenue and Western Hills Boulevard and Moccasin Avenue. HAWK signals provide a more protected crossing for pedestrians and bicyclists and in these two cases, upgrade existing crosswalks. Both projects are expected to open by Sept. 2.
Drivers should always use caution in school zones and obey posted speed limits.
