City organizations to hold public outreach open house on May 16

The Cheyenne Metropolitan Planning Organization, the City of Cheyenne, and the Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority will be hosting a community open house next week to seek input on several planning projects.
The open house will be held in the Cottonwood Room at the Laramie County Public Library on Thursday, May 16, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Projects will include the West Crow Creek Greenway, the MPO’s Complete Streets initiative, the Downtown Plan of Development, the City’s stormwater system, and affordable housing initiatives.
West Crow Creek Greenway
The West Crow Creek Greenway is planned to connect Martin Luther King Jr. Park to Freedom Elementary School. This section of proposed Greenway is the last remaining section from the City’s original 1992 Greenway Plan and is currently under an alignment and design study by the MPO.
Consultants for the West Crow Creek Greenway project will be sharing three alternative routes and receiving public feedback.
“This project would complete the last section of the original Greenway plan contemplated 30 years ago and provide safe bicycle/pedestrian access to the west side of the community along Crow Creek,” said Jeanie Anderson-Shrednik, the City’s Greenway and Parks planner.

Complete Streets
Cheyenne MPO Director Jeff Noffsinger will share details of a recently completed draft of a Complete Streets Best Practices Manual for the Cheyenne urban area.
“The plan is a toolbox of traffic calming solutions that can be applied to specific projects to right-size the road for all users,” Noffsinger said.
Downtown Plan of Development
The Downtown Development Authority is currently in the middle of updating the City’s Downtown Plan of Development.
The update is a 12-18 month process that will result in a new vision for the future of downtown, guiding policies, and key implementation action items for achieving the vision. The plan will provide a blueprint for strategies that promote economic vitality and increase public activities, while enhancing the historic western charm of Downtown Cheyenne.
DDA Administrator Kylie Dorr will be available to share information about the effort and answer questions.

Stormwater Management System
City Drainage Engineer Wesley Bay will be on hand to answer questions and share information about the City’s Stormwater Management System, including questions on the current state of the system and possible solutions that can be implemented to reduce flooding and other related issues in the community.
Affordable Housing
Senior Planner and Affordable Housing Task Force Member Seth Lloyd will be facilitating discussion on affordable and attainable housing solutions, including safe, adequate workforce housing.
