City advises permit applicants of fraudulent e-mails

The City of Cheyenne’s Building Safety Division has received reports of fraudulent e-mails asking permit applicants to wire funds in association with their application(s).

The City will never e-mail applicants to wire funds and is offering tips to prevent fraud:

  • All payments for applications are through the secure OpenGov portal using Stripe for credit card payments.
  • Applicants should ensure e-mail addresses they receive from the City end with “@cheyennecity.org” or “@opengov.com.”
  • Payments that are due can be found in the OpenGov portal.

Applicants can always contact the Building Safety Division at 307-637-6265 to speak to City staff and verify that communications received are legitimate.­
