City accepting applications for several boards and commissions

The City of Cheyenne is seeking applications to fill upcoming vacancies on three different boards and commissions: the Board of Adjustment, the Historic Preservation Board, and the Housing and Community Development Advisory Council.

Board of Adjustment

Two positions will be open on the Board of Adjustment for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2026.

The Board of Adjustment is responsible for appeals and quasi-judicial decisions under the zoning regulations. The board has the authority to review and make the final decision on zoning variances, conditional use approvals, and appeals of administrative decisions. Additionally, the Board has the authority to hear appeals and affirm, modify, or overrule the final decision on site plans, temporary use approvals, administrative use approvals, and administrative adjustments. The Board of Adjustment meets once per month.

Historic Preservation Board

One position will be open on the Historic Preservation Board for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2026.

The Historic Preservation Board advises the Governing Body on decisions regarding historic preservation.

Housing and Community Development Advisory Council

One position will be open on the Housing and Community Development Advisory Council for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2026.

The council serves as a liaison between the Housing and Community Development Office and community residents in receiving input on very low, low, and moderate-income needs and between the Cheyenne City Council and community residents to express identified needs. During the H&CD Office grant cycle, the Advisory Council oversees the grant process and makes recommendations to the City Council for funding. In addition, the Advisory Council conducts site visits and evaluations on sub-grantees throughout the year.
