Cheyenne Gymnastics proudly hosted the 2026 USA Gymnastics Wyoming State Championships in the new Cheyenne Gymnastics facility for the very first time on March 20–22, welcoming more than 350 gymnasts from 13 clubs across the state.
The exciting weekend showcased incredible talent, sportsmanship, and the continued growth of gymnastics in Wyoming.
Cheyenne Gymnastics was well represented, with 58 athletes competing: 26 Xcel Bronze, 12 Xcel Silver, 11 Xcel Gold, 8 Xcel Platinum, and 1 Xcel Diamond gymnast. Competing in their home gym, these athletes delivered outstanding performances across all levels.
As a team, Cheyenne Gymnastics continued its tradition of excellence, earning four first place team trophies in Xcel Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum—marking the fifth consecutive year the program has achieved this impressive sweep. Team awards require a minimum of three athletes per level.
Individually, Cheyenne gymnasts dominated the competition, bringing home an incredible 58 State Champion titles. Among the standout performances, Ameliah Messenger, Xcel Bronze; and Tasarra Robinson, Xcel Diamond; each captured a clean sweep—earning first place on Vault, Uneven Bars, Balance Beam, Floor Exercise, and the All-Around in their respective levels.
The success extended beyond the state level, as all 11 Xcel Gold athletes, Kimber Allen, Jaycie Callison, Reese Gray, Payton Hoard, Delilah Messenger, Raechel Newsom, Eden Robinson, Alaina Rodgers, Taya Thompson, Meadow Walduck, and Avery Womack, qualified for the Xcel Gold Regional Championships in Galveston, Texas, on May 1–3, 2026. Additionally, all 8 Xcel Platinum athletes, Ayla Crystal, Lola Hickox, Madi Macy, Kinley Mikowski, Kaylee Reffler, Zoey Salas, Brielle Scholl, and D’Saitrya Woody, and the program’s Xcel Diamond athlete, Tasarra Robinson, qualified for the Xcel Platinum and Diamond Regional Championships in Loveland, Colorado, on April 24–26, 2026.
“These achievements reflect not only the hard work and dedication of the athletes but also the commitment and guidance of their coaches,” said Shannon Mitchell, Gymnastics Specialist and Operations Manager. “Cheyenne Gymnastics extends a heartfelt thank you to its coaching staff for their continued support, leadership, and passion for developing athletes both in and out of the gym.”
Hosting this prestigious event in their new facility made the weekend even more special, marking a milestone moment for Cheyenne Gymnastics and the local community, Mitchell said. With strong performances and a record of continued success, the program looks ahead with excitement to regional competition and beyond.
