The Cheyenne Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is launching the Season’s Greetings Window Display Contest for downtown businesses, and city residents and visitors will get to help choose the winners.

The contest begins Nov. 24, 2023, and is open to merchants within the DDA district boundary. Each participating business will set up their display for the holiday season and provide a ballot box for voting.

Downtown visitors can vote on their favorite display at the participating business or online via a QR code on event posters throughout downtown.

Once the contest ends on Dec. 11, votes will be tallied to determine the top five holiday displays. The firefighters at Cheyenne Fire and Rescue’s Station 1 on 19th Street will choose their top two favorites from those five, with the winning business receiving $500 and the runner up receiving $250. Winners will be announced on Dec. 18.

“This contest fits perfectly will all the events planned through Visit Cheyenne’s Old West Holiday,” said DDA Administrator Thom Gabrukiewicz. “Businesses can help get downtown into the holiday spirit by decorating their storefronts and have the chance to score some cash as well. We all look forward to what our creative downtown merchants will come up with to dress up their storefronts for Christmas.”

Businesses that wish to participate should email DDA/Main Street Manager Irene Parsons at iparsons@cheyennecity.org or call 307-433-9730 to get put on the official online voting ballot. The DDA will supply the official ballots for the public to vote.

The Season’s Greetings Window Display Contest coincides with Visit Cheyenne’s Old West Holiday celebration. For more information on Old West Holiday events, visit www.oldwestholiday.com
