With Laramie County recently lifting its burn restrictions, the City of Cheyenne would like to remind residents that fireworks are strictly prohibited within city limits at all times in accordance with the City’s Code of Ordinances Chapter 8.20, regardless of county burn restrictions. This long-standing prohibition is in place to protect public safety, reduce fire risks, and ensure a safe environment for our neighborhoods.
“We know fireworks are a traditional part of summer celebrations,” Cheyenne Fire Rescue Chief Andrew Dykshorn said. “But within Cheyenne, they pose a significant risk to the health and safety of our citizens. We encourage everyone to keep our community safe by respecting the year-round fireworks ban and enjoy the professional fireworks show being displayed for the 250th celebration near downtown, against the beautiful backdrop of our Capitol!”
Residents looking for festive ways to celebrate are encouraged to join the community at the Capital City Celebration event on July 4. This milestone celebration will feature family-friendly activities, entertainment, food, and a safe, fun environment for all ages. The event will also include a professional fireworks show near the Wyoming State Capitol with Cheyenne Fire Rescue on standby for safety.
