CFR informs residents of nearby prescribed burns Nov. 17-21, 2025

Cheyenne Fire Rescue is informing city residents that smoke may be present in the area next week due to prescribed burning on F.E. Warren Air Force Base.

Prescribed burning on the base is scheduled Monday, Nov. 17, through Friday, Nov. 21, weather permitting.

Residents may notice smoke, heavy equipment, fire crews, and support crews in areas near the base. If smoke is present, residents are encouraged to keep windows closed and limit outdoor activity.

Prescribed burning is a controlled fire done to reduce wildfire risk and protect infrastructure by reducing the buildup of fuels. Residents do not need to report the prescribed fires, as first responders and local dispatchers will be aware of the operations.
