The City of Cheyenne’s Building Division will switch to the all-digital OpenGov portal on Thursday, June 12, 2025, and permittees and applicants are encouraged to prepare for the change.

After June 12, paper applications will no longer be accepted.

The OpenGov platform will allow those applying for permits or licensing to do so entirely online or through a computer at the Cheyenne Municipal Building. The change will allow the Building Division to operate more efficiently and allow customers to more easily access City services and track the progress of their project.

Building Division staff can provide assistance to those who need help setting up an OpenGov account or using the new software.

To prepare for the transition, the Building Division will be closed on Wednesday, June 11, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. for staff training. Inspections should be scheduled before that time.

Existing licensed contractors and individuals will receive a ‘claim code’ via e-mail to import their information from the City’s old system to OpenGov.

In addition to the OpenGov change, the Building Division e-mail address building@cheyennecity.org will only be used for existing permits that are currently in the old system. All new permits and all licensing will be done solely through OpenGov.

Several other City services have already changed to OpenGov, including a number of applications and permits.

Questions can be directed to the Building Division at 307-637-6265.
