With spring comes an abundance of baby animals, including kittens, rabbits, skunks, and other wildlife, but young animals exploring their new environments can find themselves in tricky situations.
Cheyenne and Laramie County Animal Control officers have been inundated with calls about animals being trapped in window wells, sometimes getting injured in the process.
To prevent these situations, property owners are encouraged to cover window wells to keep animals out. If an animal does become trapped, a 2-by-4 or other type of plank placed into the window well may help the animal escape.
If property owners are unable to get the animal out of the window well or if the animal appears injured, Animal Control officers can respond, assess the situation, and release the animal if possible.
To contact Animal Control, call 307-637-6206.
