The Cheyenne & Laramie County America 250 Commission has announced the debut of a special radio series commemorating America's 250th birthday, airing now through July 4, 2026.

The series is broadcasting statewide through a network organized by KFBC and Montgomery Broadcasting in Cheyenne, fostering a sense of unity and pride throughout the state. The project, featuring 65 audio vignettes that highlight iconic figures and pivotal moments in America’s struggle for independence as well as Wyoming’s unique contributions to our nation’s history, premiered earlier this month. The series will air at various times on KFBC and affiliate stations.

“This radio series is an incredible way for Wyomingites to connect with the people and events that made our nation great,” Mayor Patrick Collins said. “Cheyenne is proud to help lead this celebration of American independence and Wyoming’s contributions to our shared story.”

The series is designed to inspire and educate listeners about our shared heritage. Each vignette explores the courage, sacrifice, and determination that defined our nation's founding, while also telling the stories of Wyoming trailblazers who shaped the state’s proud legacy. From the Declaration of Independence to Wyoming's pioneering role in women’s suffrage, and from George Washington to Esther Hobart Morris, the series promises to bring history to life for all ages. The committee invites everyone to “Honor the heritage. Celebrate the legacy. These are America's stories.”

“As we prepare to mark America’s 250th birthday, this series reminds us of the values that unite us as a nation,” Laramie County Commissioner Don Hollingshead. “It’s also a wonderful opportunity to reflect on Wyoming’s unique role in shaping the American experience. We hope listeners across the state will tune in, learn, and feel inspired.”

The America 250 radio series is part of a broader effort to commemorate the United States’ Semiquincentennial in 2026. The Cheyenne & Laramie County America 250 Commission invites all Wyoming residents to join in the celebration.

“We are honored to originate this series and share it with communities throughout Wyoming,” KFBC owner Dave Montgomery said. “From the Revolutionary War to Wyoming’s rugged frontier spirit, these stories are a testament to the bravery and resilience that define America. We can’t wait to bring this history into the hearts and homes of our listeners.”
