How to obtain a New Sod or Seed Permit

  1. Add a minimum of 3.5 cubic yards or compost or other acceptable organic material, see below, per 1,000 square feet of the area to receive sod or seed. This works out to be a little over an inch spread across the area.
    1. Disc or rototill the organic material into the soil to a depth of 6 inches.
    2. Acceptable organic material includes compost, aged manure, or peat moss but does not include fertilizer or polymers.
  2. Get a free permit. An application form must be submitted and approved by the Board prior to installing new sod/seed or over seeding. Click here for the application form
