SPECIAL EVENTS

Memorial Day Ceremonies - Memorial Day services will be held at Beth El Cemetery on Monday, May 26, 2008 at 12:00 p.m.  Avenue of Flags will be flown between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on this day as well.  There will be a Veteran's Day Parade beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday May 24, 2008 in downtown Cheyenne.

Hershey Track & Field Youth Program - This program promotes participation and recreation through track & field events for boys and girls ages 9-14.  Local winners advance to state competition.  State winners have a chance to qualify for an all-expenses paid trip to Hershey, PA, for the National Hershey Track & Field Meet in August.  Pre-registration with a birth certificate for the participant is required.  Registration will be held the day of the event beginning at 9:00 a.m. There is no registration fee. The Hershey Track meet will be held on May 17, 2008 with events to begin at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson Jr. High Track.  For more information contact rfeezer@cheyennecity.org  at (307)637-6423.

 

Superday - The Annual Frontier Refining Inc. Superday event is Tree House in Lions Parkscheduled for the 4th Saturday in  June from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  This is a day planned for children and adults of all ages.  It will be a day of family fun and will be held in Lions Park.  There will be rides, refreshments, live music, demonstrations, games, contests, exhibits and an arts and crafts show.  In addition to these activities there will be several sporting events including a Frontier Refining Inc. 10K/5K Run/Walk, Judo tournament, Volleyball Tournament, Tour de Prairie Cycling Event as well as a Car Show and Family Concert.

REC CAMP  -

This full day program is open to boys and girls ages 6-11.  There are many varied activities planned for this well-supervised program.  Some of the activities include swimming, arts and crafts, theme days, roller skating, bowling, parties, a track meet and more. 

Registration Information:
Neighborhood Facility, 610 W. 7th St.,  latter part of March.

Rec Camp Locations:
Pioneer Park Center, 1331 Talbot Court
Old Community House, 600 S. Lions Park

Days/Times:
Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
June through August

Drop off times: 7:30 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.
Pick-up is times: 5:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.

 

LATCHKEY PROGRAM -

This is a before and after school program. This program is open to all youth between the ages of 6-11.  A variety of activities are offered including sports, games, arts and crafts, and homework help.  A caring and knowledgeable staff will be present to keep the children safe and supervised. 

Location/Times:
Pioneer Park Center, 1331 Talbot Ct.
6:45 am-8:45am and 3:15pm-5:45pm.

Transportation is available from the following schools:  Hobbs, Davis, Jessup, Freedom, Pioneer Park, Henderson, Fairview, Lebhart, and Bain.  Parents are also welcome to drop off registered children.  Parents will be required to pick up children at the end of the day. 

Program Fee: $175/month. 

Registration Information:
Register at the Neighborhood Facility,610 W. 7th St., Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.  Registration must be completed in person by the parent or legal guardian.

Goblin WalkThis event is held on the last Sunday in  October from 6:00 - gw1.jpg (655190 bytes)7:30 p.m. in Lions Park.  The walk starts at the Community House and ends 20 minutes later at Botanic Gardens.  This is a guided walk for those 6 - 11 years of age (however, any age may attend; and those under 13 years old must be accompanied by a paying adult) through a "haunted" forest, with a bag of treats at the end.   Tickets must be purchased and are sold in advance of the event.
