ASSISTANT REC CAMP LEADER (VOLUNTEER)


DESCRIPTION OF WORK
General Statement of Duties: Under general supervision, leads and directs the activities provided through the
Recreation Department Summer Rec Camp. Supervises children ages 6-11 participating in the program. Provides for safe and well supervised activity.
 

Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Rec Camp Leader and the general supervision of the Rec Camp Director, Assistant Director,and the Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Coordinator.
 

Supervision Exercised: Exercises supervision over Rec Camp participants.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: (Any one position may not include all of the listed duties nor do the listed examples include all tasks which may be found in positions of this class.)
Receives assignments and direction form Rec Camp Leader and implements activities planned for each day.
Leads specific activities at the program site.
Supervises participants to assure enjoyment of activities in a safe and positive manner.
Assists with control of equipment and supplies used on site.
Performs related work as required and/or assigned.
 

QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the operation of a municipal playground program. Skill in relations with children ages 6 to 11. Ability to assist in leading and supervising activities. Ability to establish and maintain
effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public.
 

Education: Graduation from grade school, or equivalent combination of education and experience which provides a
general knowledge of education and recreation practices and procedures.
 

Experience: Experience in dealing with children, or one years experience working in a Rec Camp.
