Richard L. "Rick" Kaysen
Rick Kaysen has been the Mayor of Cheyenne since January 2009.Originally from Denver, CO, Rick has been a Cheyenne resident since 1985. Cheyenne quickly became Rick’s "hometown" and he has devoted his time and skills in helping build a better community over the last twenty-nine years.

In 2007, Rick completed a thirty-six year career in the electric and natural gas industries. He began his career as a meter reader in 1971, and held several positions before serving as the President and CEO of Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power. Customer service was a major focus in his career.

Service to the Community
Rick is well known for his service and leadership positions on many Cheyenne boards and committees. These include the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens Foundation Board, Cheyenne LEADS Board, Laramie County Community College Foundation Board, Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce Board, St. Mary’s Parish Council, Progress and Prosperity, Boy Scouts of America Fund Raiser Chairman, and Cheyenne Symphony Board.  He is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Friends of Optimists International, and is a Kiwanis Honorary member.  Rick serves on the Human Services Advisory Council, the Cheyenne and Laramie County GIS Executive Committee, the Cheyenne Metropolitan Planning Organization, and is active with the Mayor's Youth Council.

State-Level Service
In addition to his service to the Cheyenne community, Rick also serves on the Wyoming Association of Municipalities Board of Directors, the Wyoming Business Alliance/Wyoming Heritage Society Steering Committee, Wyoming Small State Business Credit Imitative Consortium Board and served on the Leadership Wyoming Advisory Committee.

Other Information
After graduating from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado with a Bachelor of Arts in Education, Rick served in the Vietnam War, U.S. Infantry, K-9 Scout Dog Handler.


Rick and his wife, Diane, have four children and four grandchildren.
