CHEYENNE - Cheyenne Mayor Marian Orr and the Cheyenne 150 Steering Committee are excited to announce Black Hills Energy as the presenting sponsor for the city’s sesquicentennial celebration events to take place on July 4 and the week of Aug. 5–Aug. 12.
“Black Hills Energy and its predecessors have been an integral part of Cheyenne since its embryo days,” Mayor Orr said. “Having them eagerly come on board at this level is a perfect fit as we celebrate our heritage.” Black Hills serves 120,000 natural gas and 45,000 electric utility customers in Wyoming.
According to Black Hills Energy Vice President of Operations Shirley Welte, the company is honored to be offered the opportunity to support Cheyenne in this way. “Like the elected city officials and staff, we are proud of Cheyenne’s past and present, and excited about its future. We look forward to this partnership with the mayor and the steering committee.”
The steering committee, overseen by the mayor and coordinated by Mona Pearl, Cheyenne 150 Coordinator, has developed a deep and diverse schedule of events to highlight Cheyenne’s history and provide a variety of ways for all residents and visitors to participate. Pearl says the committee now needs volunteers and additional donations.
“The Black Hills Energy commitment is the lynchpin for ensuring the celebrations will be top-notch,” Pearl said. “And now we need people and additional funds to make sure we do Cheyenne proud as it turns 150 years old.”
